This Slimming World Chilli can be made as hot as you like, and you can be made healthier by using 5% fat mince, more than enough for a family of four or can be frozen for use at a later date.


  • 1 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 Large Onion Finely chopped
  • 2 Cloves Garlic Finely chopped or pressed
  • 2 Fresh Chillis Deseeded, finely chopped
  • 2 Tsp Ground cumin
  • 1 Tsp Ground coriander
  • 1 Tsp Paprika Smoked is good
  • 1/4 Tsp Cayenne pepper
  • 400 g Chopped Tomatoes (Tinned)
  • 1 Large Onion Finely chopped
  • Pinch of Salt & Black Pepper
  • 450-500 g Minced beef
  • 200g Tin of Red Kidney Beans (Drained)
  • Natural yogurt To serve
  • Fresh coriander leaves To garnish

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Spray a large saucepan with low calorie cooking spray and fry the onions gently over a low heat for 6-8 minutes, until softened and golden.

Step 2

Add the mince and stir fry for 5-6 minutes.

Step 3

Add the garlic, chillies and all the spices and continue frying, stirring occasionally, for 2-3 minutes.

Step 4

Add the canned tomatoes, tomato purée and stock. Stir well and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat and simmer gently for 15 minutes, until the liquid is slightly reduced.

Step 5

Season with salt and pepper and the drained kidney beans.

Step 6

Heat through gently for about 5 minutes.

Step 7

Serve hot, with spoonful of cool natural yogurt and sprinkle with chopped coriander leaves.

Step 8

Serve with white or wholemeal rice.
